Reading Cycle

If birds’ nests are made of straws, mine was made from fiction books. In my life, there have been many occasions when I have been both – blessed as well as cursed by reading so much fiction. How many times have I been lost in fantasies or lost the sense of grounds and reality? But also how many times have I been able to understand the other better? Or myself better?

The series of works in the Reading Cycle started from my passion for reading fiction books and my search for new ways of empathic storytelling. The journey, which started with the book Reading Lolita in Teheran, taught me not only how individuals and society are shaped by stories but also how reading fiction literature might be used as a political tool.
